Alfonso Damiano
Associate Professor
was born in Cagliari, Italy, on 7th November 1966. He graduated in electrical engineering at the University of Cagliari, Italy, in 1992. In 1994, he joined the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the University of Cagliari as an Assistant Professor. Since 2001, he has been an Associate Professor of electrical energy management and electrical machines. Since 2012, he has been Visiting Professor at Institute for Advanced Studies of Lucca, Italy. He is scientific coordinator of the Sardinian Regional Renewable Energy Laboratory and main scientific advisor of the Sardinian Government for the development of Sardinian energy plan. In 2013 he has been main scientific advisor of project “Smart City – A Labelled Municipalities” which received by European Commission the Sustainable Energy Europe (SEE) and Managenergy Award 2014. Since 2013 he has been involved, as main scientific advisor in the development and implementation of two experimental micro grids based on novel energy storage management systems; the project is supported by European Community. He is author of about 90 papers published on international conference proceedings and journals. His current research interests include electrical drives, energy management, and energy storage system especially regarding electric vehicle and renewable energy system applications.
