Dr. Tate received his BS degree from Brigham Young University (BYU) where he double majored in Psychology and Anthropology. He eventually went on to earn his Ph.D. from BYU in clinical psychology with an emphasis in neuropsychology. He completed a clinical internship in Neuropsychology and an NIH T32 Post-doctoral fellowship in Immunology at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Upon completion of his post-doctoral training he joined the research faculty at Brown University for one year after which he moved his NIH/NIMH K23 research award to the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. While there, he was promoted to Assistant Professor of Research at the Harvard Medical School and also maintained an adjunct faculty appointment at Boston University Medical School. Dr. Tate has also worked as a research neuropsychologist and senior principle scientist for the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Centers at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Here he worked with active duty service members who sustained head injuries during combat operations or training exercises in both clinical and research capacities. Over the course of his career, he has studied the cognitive and medical imaging effects of a number of neurologic diseases, dementia, development disorders, and acquired brain disorders.
