In the present study Ba0.6K0.4BiO3 has been synthesized using pechini mehod. The as prepared particles are characterized by means of XRD, FTIR, SEM and UVDRS. Further the potenial of thus prepared photocatalyst, BKBO, has been explored as an efficient catalyst for the hotocatalytic degradation of model dye: Crystal Violet, under visible light irradiation. the effect of process parameters such as initial dye concentration, catalyst loading, pH and temperature of the extent of photodegradation have been investigated. A rate equation for the degradation based on Langmuir-Hinshewood model has been proposed. In addition a tentative mechanism has been proposed for the photocatalytic degradation of Crystal violet dye.
