Director / Senior Lecturer
Rachel has been an instructor of Microbiology, Biochemistry and Chemistry at the University of Wyoming for seventeen years. As a Senior Academic Professional Lecturer Rachel has taught full-scale active learning General Microbiology, Microbiology labs, Biochemistry and the capstone course for microbiology majors. This semester, Rachel joins the Chemistry Department and is teaching Biological Chemistry and the Microbiology Capstone Course. Rachel's research interests include instructional technology integration, student learning assessment, active learning and social and environmental justice as it informs curriculum design. Rachel is the Chair of the Science Initiative’s Active Learning Spaces Committee, the Director of the Learning Actively Mentoring Program (LAMP) and the Director for the Queer Studies Graduate and Undergraduate Minors. For twenty years, Rachel has been the volunteer co-coach of the Men's and Women's Nordic Ski Team. In that time, the team has skied to thirteen United States Collegiate Championship team titles, twenty-three individual titles and boasts 100 Academic All-Americans. In 2011, 2013, 2015 & 2017, the team represented the USA at the World University Games in Turkey, Italy. Slovakia and Kazakhstan.
