Whilst
attending one of the many library management meetings at Chinhoyi University of
Technology (CUT), a proposal for the creation of a learning commons (LCs) was
made. The researcher understood from that discussion that LCs creation was
being hinted on by the Zimbabwe University Libraries Consortium (ZULC). It was
from this discussion and from coming across a number of contemporary library
literature which seems to be about LCs and information commons that the
researcher felt that although there may be some other solutions to the lack of
collaboration space in Zimbabwe, LCs could be one of them.
