<div>Sinclair (2009) had established that blended
librarianship has be borne out of the need to bring the academic librarian to
his original role of being the <i>de facto</i>
center of information on campus. Sinclair has purported that there is a growing
popularity in learning management systems and several online information that
have marginalized the academic librarian in higher education institutions.
Blended librarianship is therefore envisioned to be the magic formulae that can
reassert the role of the academic librarian in the teaching and learning
process. Authors such as Pasipamire (2012) are advocating for the need of
flexible professionals who can apply both LIS theory and practice in their
roles of information provision and dissemination. A blended librarian can be
seen fulfilling this role it we take Bell and Shank’s definition of a blended
