Recent studies of academic librarians have
included newer universities to assess trends in academic libraries. Studies
such as Mbambo (2006: 184) have found that subject librarianship is often an
internal arrangement within the library and may not be recognised through the
university structures. Chikozo et.al. (2014) confirm the findings on Mbambo as
they found that current the roles and responsibilities of academic librarians
in Zimbabwe were not reflected in their job descriptions.
