One
of the facets of the professional identity of blended librarians that has been
given by Bell and Shank (2007:504) is that of an educator. In their own words,
Bell and Shank claim suggest that the work of academic librarians is “directed
to helping students and faculty achieve academic success”. Sinclair (2007: 504)
has proposed that academic librarians must blend library and information
services into the teaching and learning process by applying design which takes
the form of looking at library services from the perspective of the community.
This means academic librarians must work towards building new collaborations
with students, faculty, staff, and other information and instructional
technology professionals in the physical and virtuals spaces where learners and
teachers engage in.
