us, pedagogically sound mediators and “guides by the side” are sorely needed to
assist in accessing and making sense of the ever vaster, and at times extremely
chaotic universe of resources. Librarians have a historically, unprecedented opportunity
to increase their relevance and participation through assisting faculty and
other academic staff with student instruction in the various types of
literacies (i.e., computer, media) or information fluency.
