During the past 25 years there has been a
growth in the number of higher education institutions in Zimbabwe, and
subsequently the number of academic libraries has also increased. The UZ
library is of course the oldest academic library institution and an ideal model
on which later universities and colleges have been built on, with more or less
variations to suit their missions. Pasipamire (2015) detected that Zimbabwe’s
higher education sector which comprises of universities, polytechnics and
teacher training colleges has 16 universities and 21 polytechnics and colleges in
Zimbabwe. As a prerequisite for the establishment, development and advancement
of knowledge, the universities and colleges in Zimbabwe all have an academic
library that is governed by.
