It is rich in neutral hydrogen gas, a fuel source for new stars. Because of this NGC 1792 is currently rapidly forming new stars, the reason that it is classified a starburst galaxy.  NGC 1792 is located in the globular cluster of Columba which is roughly 35,000 light years from earth where several other galaxies are present.
