So now we have communicated our ocean signal from one region to a large part of the globe, but we still don't know why the response of the land is amplified.\\  This is where we find a similarity to the global warming land/ocean temperature contrast. Once again, the dryness of the air in the few kilometers  above land surfaces makes it more sensitive to change, so the change. Higher in the atmosphere, at around 5-10km, the temperature change will be the same across the whole tropics, there won't be any difference between land  and this ocean. As we near the surface the dryer air above land is more sensitive, and the  change is amplified over the land.
