In other words, 200 is in fact an arbitrary figure, and even if the blood sugar is very high, the conclusion of presence of diabetes is not certain. The problem is that the first statement is easily handled in production rule format, while the second is not. Thus we see that the statement is not actually factual information but should more accurately be termed a guideline. The situation is then complicated by the problem of combining a number of such guidelines in a more complex reasoning situation.
