Franklin published his "results" in the Pennsylvania Gazette that year.

But he wasn't the first. Franklin told his friend Collinson of his plans, and his words were getting a lot of attention in France. On month prior to Franklin, naturalist Thomas-Francois Dalibard succeeded in using a large metal pole to conduct electricity, electricity from lightning,  supporting Franklin's hypothesis.
