In the US, female tenure professors make up less than 30% of all tenure staff. (cite) Other (cite) Other  western countries share similar numbers. In France, women comprised around 28% of all researchers. The only exceptions where females seem to take the lead are  are in  some South American countries--the average proportion off male researchers in the continent South America  is around 44% (UNESCO).
