In the US, female tenure professors make up less than 30% of all tenure staff. Other western countries share similarly low numbers. In France, women comprised around 28% of all researchers. The only exceptions where females seem to take the lead areare in  some South American and Southeast Asian countries. The average proportion of male researchers in the South America is around 44%.
