Moreover, nowadays it is considered best practice for big enterprises to have a private cloud. Having a private cloud would allow Allianz to standardize its technology operations across their global operating centers. The company should start private cloud projects with the focus on a single unit or department. A separate IT team should be created that relies on customer service and effort management. The team should have a concrete aim – to create and maintain an internal cloud solution for the company. Private cloud would be available via normal broadband networking technology and support resource pooling. It should offer measured service so that all required company data could be placed there. There are many different ways how Allianz could benefit from its private cloud. First, they could make use of Software as a Service. E.g. a standalone clients’ management tool could be used and shared by business units from different locations. Second, a private cloud would allow company to communicate with a client directly – file sharing, communication would be fired up within few button clicks. Finally, cloud solutions give companies tremendous flexibility. Allianz could easily follow their IT costs and usage areas. Decisions about changes could be adopted quick and cost-effective. In the case of Allianz, it means their data center consolidation. The company has about 140 data centers which work independently to each other. After a successful integration of private cloud, their number could be strongly reduced. Allianz could make a deal with a technology company such as IBM that would facilitate the transition from their IT data centers to a private cloud. Simplifying their IT architectures and streamlining their application portfolios would be the first step towards this goal.
