\section{Conclusions}  \label{sec:conclusions}  FRETBursts is an open source implementation of state-of-the-art established  smFRET burst analysis methods accessible to thewhole  single-molecule community. It implements several novel concepts which can lead  to significantly more accurate results. Example of novel concepts include improved results, such as  time-dependent background estimation, background dependent background-dependent  burst search threshold, burst weighting andburst selection based on  γ-corrected burst sizes. size selection.  More importantly, FRETBursts provides a library of well-tested routines thoroughly-tested functions  for timestamps and burst manipulation, making it an ideal environment platform  to develop and compare novel new  analytical techniques with minimal effort. We summarize here what we consider to be the strengths  of the FRETBursts software.
