The study will be build around a test case based on the city of Vevey. Vevey is a medium-size city located east from Lausanne on the shore of Geneva Lake, in Switzerland. Its population numbers about 18’000 inhabitants, which considering the city surface area, represents a quite dense urban tissue (7’900 inhabitants/km2). Main energy carriers for heating needs are today natural gas (~45% of the buildings), supplied by the company Holdigaz, partner of IntegrCiTy project, and oil (~50% of the buildings). Romande Energie is presently the electric power supplier and distribution system operator for the whole City of Vevey. In their ambition of business expansion, and in agreement with the City authorities, Romande Energie wishes to conduct a feasibility study for a new district heating and cooling (DHC) network in the South-West part of the City. This area of interest comprises about 300 buildings with different typologies as they are dedicated to housing, service sector, public administration or public use. This implementation test-case is then focused on the relevance of the new DHC network, including its design, made by Romande Energie and the related impact on the existing infrastructures, namely the electrical grid (operated by Romande Energie) and the natural gas network (operated by Holdigaz).
