Now, consider 2 observes stationary at the radii $R_1$ and $R_2$. For each of them $\frac{d\vec{x}}{d\tau} = 0$. From the normalization of 4-velocity, it follows that  $$  \frac{dx^\mu}{d\tau} \frac{dx_\mu}{d\tau} = -1  $$  $$  \dot{t}^2 = \left(1-\frac{2M}{r}\right)^{-1}  $$
