He has been trying to save Gotham all night. Suddenly 3 bad guys approach from an alley.
Batman is so tired and is so ready to go home and doesn't want to carry any unnecessary weight. He has 12 identical batarangs so he decides he will throw all 12 of them at the 3 bad guys.
This will take care of two problems: he will knock out the bad guys for sure and won't have to carry any batarangs home (He has hundreds of them in the Bat-cave).
