Fibonacci numbers are used in discrete mathematics in the application of proofs by induction. This is because there are several identities for Fibonacci numbers. One such example is $F_1+F_3+\cdot \cdot \cdot \cdot + F_{2n-1}=F_{2n}$  \vspace{2mm}  They also come into conversation in regard to Binet. The Fibonacci numbers have a closed form, known as Binet's Formula. For $n \geq 0$, we have:
