To assess sensitivity, we re-identified eQTLs found in European LCLs \cite{Lappalainen_2013} in an independent dataset of 70 Yoruba LCLs \cite{Pickrell_2010}.

We compared the number of eQTLs called at 10$%$ FDR using the CHT and a simple linear model. For the linear model, GC and total read depth corrections were included. We divided the observed counts by the expected number of counts based on the GC and total read depth. We then used quantile normalization to bring the distribution of counts for each individual to a standard normal distribution.
