Recent advances Imagine an event which generates multiple innovations  in laboratory methods and especially genetics enable biological data  extraction on medical research in one weekend. Imagine  an unprecedented scale.  Unfortunately, many event which gives spreadsheet limited  laboratory researchers in a taste of what computers can really do. Imagine an event where the powers of coding and analysis are combined with powers of  biology, genetics and medicine are unaware of   the ability to convert dry or unobtainable data into ground-breaking medical insight. And imagine it all done in a spirit  of analysts frenzied teamwork  and computer scientists to extract useful information from their experimental data. friendly competition.  To address this issue we have organised weekend events This is HealthHack, a 48 hour hackfest in which medical researchers nucleate teams of brilliant, creative people  to bring laboratory-based scientists together with   computer solve the data-processing problems faced by real researchers  and analytical scientists to implement tools that permit useful insight into dry data.  Participants were organised into teams, consisting real clinicians. Here is a sampling  of one laboratory-based scientist, or \emph{problem owner}, along with coders and   other scientists. The what the  teams and their solutions to their problems are outlined below. creations:
