Average temperature of the coldest (bio6) and the warmest (bio5) months where the most important criteria to separate the regions. See Table 1 to identify regions (numbers within the bubbles). The size of the bubbles is based on the residuals of the recursive partition model. Circles represent Neanderthal sites used to calibrate the species distribution model. Example of interpretation: in Southern Italy (ID=35) high habitat suitability values are explained by a
minimum winter temperature
of the coldest month (bio6) higher than -3.7
ºC ºC, and a temperature of the warmest month higher than 29 ºC.
