To bridge theory with experiment, we compared our light curves to Eric Hsiao's theoretical light curves. Prof. Hsiao's model encompassed 3 parameters (peak magnitude, peak day, and light curve stretch). We sampled this 3 dimensional parameter space and found the optimal \(\chi^2\). There are several ways of going about this optimization. We chose the simplest - minimizing \(\chi^2\). This method is simple but has a drawback. We cannot report a confidence level. Had we brute force populated the parameter space and marginalized the probability along each dimension we could then report a confidence level of our choice.
