The Dutch households used 1341 m³ of gas in 2012, which is a decrease of 23% compared to the year 2000. This decrease is caused by better insulation of houses and more efficient heating systems. Although the electrical appliances have become more efficient as well, the amount of appliances used has increased, as well as the size of the appliances. The electricity usage per household is 3495 kWh in 2012, which is a slight increase compared to 2000. The amount of kilometers driven in cars has increased.
