\label{fig:hists}  The CTP-$\tau$ joint histograms of the hybrid cloud regimes, as derived from ISCCP observations and ACCESS1.3 using the ISCCP simulator.  The cloud regimesH1--H11  are arranged according to most frequent cloud-top properties in each histogram. The relative frequency of occurrence (RFO) of each hybrid cloud regime in the observations (obs) and simulations (sim) is given in the top-right corner of each histogram; above the top-right corner of each histogram is the sum of the histogram, which gives the total cloud cover (TCC).  Where ACCESS1.3 significantly over-produces a hybrid cloud regime, the border and RFO of that histogram are drawn in red; where the cloud regime is under-produced in the model, the border and RFO are drawn in blue.
