We show that the hybrid cloud regimes demonstrate the characteristics of observed cloud regimes, while explicitly identifying key cloud biases in the model.   Rather than quantitatively comparing dynamical and thermodynamical variables between re-analyses and the model---a task made obscure by the significant deficits of these fields in the model---we compare the occurrence of the hybrid cloud regimes in the context of composite extratropical cyclones to better understand the dynamical and thermodynamical context of the observed and simulated cloud regimes.  %Compensating biases between these model-mostly and only-observed cloud regimes.  In the context of composite cyclones we note that the observed cloud regimes include a deep mid-level cloud regime which is found in the warm conveyor belt (WCM), which is distinct from the optically thinner mid-topped cloud regimes which are predominant in the cold-air sector \citep{Bodas-Salcedo2012, Bodas-Salcedo2014}. \citep{Bodas-Salcedo2012,Bodas-Salcedo2014}.  }
