Filament 6 (“BC_011.13-0.12”)

Filament 6 is not a confirmed bone candidate, receiving a quality grade of “B.” At 25:1, it has the smallest aspect ratio of all ten candidates, failing to satisfy our criterion 6. Despite this, it lies within 5 km/s of both the Scutum-Centaurus and Norma-4kpc fits in p-v space, as well within 15 pc of the physical galactic midplane. Designated the “snake”, note that filament 6 has been well-studied for its star formation properties, hosting over a dozen pre-stellar cores likely to produce regions of high mass star formation \citep{Wang_2014,Henning_2010}.
