Top: Position-velocity diagram of CO, NH3, and N2H+ emission for BC\_4.14-0.02. Blue background shows 12CO (1-0) emission integrated between −1The black Colored  lines are show  fitsto CO data  for the Scutum-Centaurusarm, from Dame et al. (2011). Bottom: Plane of the sky map integrated between 0-20 km/s, the approximate velocity range of the Scutum-Centaurus arm in the region around BC_4.14-0.02. A trace of BC\_4.14-0.02, as it would appear as a mid-IR extinction feature, is superimposed on the CO emission map. The correlation between BC_4.14-0.02’s mid-IR extinction feature and the Scutum-Centaurus’s  arm more intense CO emission hints that BC\_4.14-0.02 may be a spine of Scutum as traced by lower density CO gas (see text for references).
