Up to this point, there has been little focus on the use of topological insulators in RTD's. Due to the nature of transport in topological insulators, it is likely that using these materials in a RTD will result in interesting properties that otherwise would not be observed. Depending on the results, this type of RTD could have useful capabilities that the
convential conventional RTD does not, such as spin control.
