This project paper mainly focuses on the physical models and the current characteristics of charge density waves (CDW) (CDW)\cite{Gr_ner_1988}  in the material with anisotropic band structures. The models discussed in this paper are classical single particle transport model\cite{Gr_ner_1981} and quantum tunneling model. The former gives the physical insights into CDW while the latter fixes some limitation of the former one. Finally, CDW effects could be controlled by applying gate voltage, resulting in field-effect CDW transistors\cite{Adelman_1995}.
