It never crossed my mind that I'd go live in another country. But as unlikely as it was, once I went, I never looked back. After living and studying in Poland, Sweden, Spain, and Germany. It was France who conquered my heart. Yet, our love was laborious, demanding, and grueling. Exactly 7 years now living in Paris. That journey, from mute new expat to (finally!) quite fluent (or let's with impunity use a word O.K.) French speaker,
from knowing nobody to saying Hi! to all the "boulangers" and butchers on my street,
from wolfing down donuts to relishing the French Pâtisserie with a capital letter,
from
new ... to ...,
from being
single and independent airy-fairy to becoming
(quite) a
serious mother,
from new... to...
is the frame from which I (parse) the xxx in my xxx thesis.
