In this section we describe the example dataset and use it to illustrate the association-mapping methods to be investigated in the simulation study.

We obtained 16 risk SNVs in the example dataset. Of these 16 risk SNVs, 10 were polymorphic in the case-control sample. We also found that 2747 of 4000 SNVs were polymorphic in the sample. Table 1 summarizes the physical distances, number of recombinations and minor allele frequencies (MAF) of these 16 risk SNVs in the example dataset.
