Our setup consisted of a solid state diode laser with a wavelength of $670 nm$, $670$ nm,  a solenoid with a coil constant of $11.1 \frac{mT}{A}$, a rotatable polarizer, and a photodiode. The current through the solenoid was controlled by a programmable bipolar operational power supply to produce either a DC current, AC current, or AC current with a DC offset. This allowed us to produce wither a constant magnetic field $B_{0}$ or a time varying magnetic field $B = B_{0} + B_{1} \cos(\omega t)$ as needed.
