Electronics diagram for measuring Shot Noise, adapted from TEACHSPIN MANUAL
"Wiring diagram for the lamp and photo-diode combination, and the voltage-follower topology of the input stage of the pre-amp."
\textbf{Are you SURE you used THIS CIRCUIT, and NOT the transimpedance amplifier in Figures 3.3a and Figures 3.3b (See pages 3 - 11 through 3-12.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR
NOTES (and please tell me NOTES. } (I'm asuuming that
by now you have
that information learned to make an entry in your
notes, notebook regarding the circuit you used, so that you
actually know and your readers can verify what you did). The transimpedance amplifier arrangement is superior to the voltage-follower arrangement, for the reasons discussed on page 3-10 . Which one you used makes a difference in terms of systematic error at low
currents! currents. }
For example, if for some reason you did set up the measurement using a voltage-follower, you would probably get similar results at 10 k$\Omega$ and 1 k$\Omega$ but not at 1 $\Omega$.
