\section{Conclusions}  After finding the mass/luminosity ratios of both spiral galaxies and the stellar content of stellar galaxies at various ages and metal contents, I was able to conclude that spiral galaxies are not primarily composed of stellar material. There is $91.95\%$ $91.36\%$  of the galaxies mass still unknown. Astronomers have been trying to answer this question for centuries and call all of the extra mass "Dark Matter" because it does not contribute to the galaxies luminosity. Some possible candidates for dark matter would be: HI gas, HII gas, molecular gas, black holes, brown dwarfs, and many other possibilities.
