\label{fig:NegativeGaussian} Shown is a negative Gaussian fitted to our data for \(5^{2}S_{1/2}\) F=2 ground state to the \(5^{2}P_{3/2}\) excited state for \(^{85}\)Rb. The form of a negative Gaussian is \(f(x)=-a*e^{-\frac{(x-b)^{2}}{2c^{2}}}+C\) WHERE c represents the width of the distribution? half width? ) due to Doppler broadening (?)

Please stop using asterisks for multiplication. Using * for multiplication is very bad form in academic journals. NO symbol is needed at all for ordinary multiplication. Use \(f(x) = -{ae}^{-(x - b)^2/{2c}^2} + C\)

or

\(f(x) = -{ae}^{-\frac{1}{2}{(\frac{x - b}{c})}^2} + C\)
