3. Smart Networked Science
Holy shit this is going to be so cool! Sensors, automated workflows, real-time predictive tools, smart materials, wearables. Who knows what this looks like, but at this time the system is going to be smart. Problem spaces for scientific experiments will be defined by the strength of individuals or collections of individuals; their experience that one can derive from a rich dataflow provenance map is used to strategically match users for science. Reccomendation systems with tighten the social network and richening its value. In this generation, the individual researcher will be an idea of the past and science is going to take a village. Science will exist on a completely digitized and federated infrastructure. Communities will compute, many individuals will simultaneously solve problems, many poor models will be evaluated with a lot of data.
