## Description of *Kirrobacter mercurialis* sp. nov.  _Kirrobacter mercurialis_ (mer.cur.ia.al.is (mer.cur.ia.al'is  L. adj. _mercurialis_, temperamental). In addition to the characteristics of the genus, colonies on LB are round, glossy, less than 1 mm in diameter. Coloration on agar and in dense liquid culture is ??? (Crayola, (TM)), appears yellow in liquid culture during exponential phase. Morphology is pleomorphic short rods (?? to ??), often with pointed ends. Growth in liquid culture from 4-25 degrees C, optimum growth at 23 degrees C. Does not require salt for growth, can tolerate up to 3% (4%?) NaCl with an optimal concentration of 1% NaCl. Oxidase and catalase negative. Carbon sources etc.
