\subsection{Measuring the monthly submission sizes}    The next measurement (in order of complexity) is to sum up theoverall sizes of each  monthly collection sizes the submitted papers, so that we see how the overall intake volume  of papers. arXiv has changed over time.  It's interesting to see that while the linear growth of submissions is followed, it is also compounded by Moore's law, as the submitted papers from 2006 onwards completely dwarf their predecessors in size. There are also a few months with significant spikes in size in recent years, hinting that the growth pattern may continue similarly.
