\subsection{Measuring the monthly submission sizes}
The next measurement (in order of complexity) is to sum up the monthly sizes the submitted papers, so that we see how the overall intake volume of arXiv has changed over time. It's interesting to see that while the linear growth of submissions is followed, it is also compounded by Moore's law, as the submitted papers from 2006 onwards completely dwarf their predecessors in size. In the 1990s we can see the linear growth in KB, while in the 2010s it is clearly in the MB scale. There are also a few months with significant spikes in size in recent years, hinting that this growth pattern may continue in the near future.
