Exposing the live equation to visual scrutiny allows for easier examination of edge cases and building better intuitions about the underlying mathematical objects.   Maybe discuss GeoGebra\cite{Venema_2009} GeoGebra\cite{Venema_2009}, \cite{Saunders_2009}  briefly here, explain we are only interested in web components and desktop solutions are largely out of scope. We give an example in Flot\cite{flot} and Bokeh\cite{bokeh}.
