The frame served as the physical support for all other components of the system.  Besides the circuitry attached directly to the sensor array,  all other functional parts of the complete robot were fastened to the frame. The PIC DevBugger board was attached to the top-left corner of the front face of the robot,  above the door and receptacle for the tray (see below for description).  Behind this, the signal hub was mounted so that the bus cable from the PIC DevBugger  could easily reach it.  At the back of the frame, the PSU and the stepper motor power circuitry was mounted.
