Gassmann’s relation is used to predict the bulk modulus of a fully saturated rock ($K_sat$), from the bulk modulus of the dry rock ($K_m$), the fluid ($K_f$), the mineral ($K_s$), and the rock porosity ($/phi$) [Gassmann, 1951]:
