\textbf{Figure 4. \textit{B. dubia} susceptibility to \textit{F. tularensis}  infection varies by life stage.} Groups of juvenile, adult male, or adult female cockroaches were injected with 3.4 x 10^4 CFU \textit{F. tularensis} prior to incubation at 37$^{\circ}$C. Survival of adult female and juvenile cockroaches were not significantly different. However, adult male cockroaches were more susceptible to infection as evidenced by no survivors and more rapid death in comparison with juvenile cockroaches (p=0.0169) or adult female cockroaches (p<0.001).
