\textbf{Table 2. Rescue of OS cockroaches with antibiotics after lethal dose of \textit{F. tularensis LVS}.}  Groups of OS cockroaches (n=8-18) were infected with between approximately 100 LD_{50}s (between  1.3 x 10^6 CUF  and 3.4 x 10^6 CFU CFU)  \textit{F. tularensis} LVS (approx. 100 LD_{50}s) followed using sharpened pipette tips. At 2, 48, and 96 hours post-infection, each group received the antibiotic indicated  by intrahemocoel injection (i.h.) or peroral feeding (p.o.) of a solution containing the antibiotics indicated at 2, 48, and 96 hours post-injection. (p.o.).  Statistical differences in survival patterns  between groups were determined by log-rank (Mantel-Cox) analysis using the 'survival' package in the R programming environment (version 3.2.1). Asterisks indicate significant differences compared to the corresponding vehicle control group or alternative routes of delivery (**=p<0.01, ***=p<0.001). ^{a}=this dose was administered three times during the study. ^{b}=survival outcome in the no manipulation group was not statistically different than survival in either vehicle control group (i.h. or p.o.; p>0.05 for all comparisons).
