\subsection{Mammalian virulence factors are required for \textit{F. tularensis} virulence toward OS cockroaches}  In order to determine if virulent virulence  factors known to be required for \textit{F. tularensis} virulence pathogenicity  in mammals are also required for lethality against OS cockroaches, in this model,  we determined the LD_{50} value for several mutant strains of \textit{F. tularensis} LVS. Juvenile OS cockroaches were challenged by intrahemocoel injection followed by incubation at 37°C. Survival was monitored for 7 days post infection. As shown in \textbf{Table 1}, loss of \textit{dsbA}, \textit{dipA}, \textit{iglC}, or \textit{deoB} significantly decreased virulence. These results correlate well with trends observed in mice \cite{24014665,25257164,23840797} and chick embryos \cite{18842136}. This suggests that significant overlap exists between the molecular determinants of disease across hosts from diverse phyla.
