\textbf{Figure 7. \textbf{Table 2. Rescue of OS cockroaches with antibiotics after lethal dose of \textit{F. tularensis LVS}.}
Groups of OS cockroaches
(n=10) (n=8-18) were infected with
between 1.3 x 10^6 and 3.4 x 10^6 CFU \textit{F. tularensis} LVS
and treated with either vehicle controls (A; oral sucrose or injected PBS) (approx. 100 LD_{50}s) followed by intrahemocoel injection (i.h.) or
peroral feeding (p.o.) of a solution containing the
indicated antibiotics
(B-F) indicated at 2, 48, and 96 hours post-injection.
Solid blue lines indicate groups treated with oral antibiotics. Dashed black lines indicate groups treated by systemic injection. Statistical differences between groups were determined by log-rank (Mantel-Cox)
analysis. analysis using the 'survival' package in the R programming environment (version 3.2.1). Asterisks indicate significant differences compared to the corresponding
vehicle control
(no antibiotic) group
(*=p<0.05, ***=p<0.001). Pound symbols indicate significant differences between oral and systemic delivery or alternative routes of
the same antibiotic (##=p<0.01, ###=p<0.001). delivery (**=p<0.01, ***=p<0.001).
